چکیده Paper:

Introduction and Objectives: More than 20% of nosocomial infection occur in intensive care unit (ICU), causing mortality of between 80-10%. Antibiotic resistance survey in bacteria has an important role in the management of treatment. The aim of this study was to determine bacterial agents and their antibiotic resistance pattern in patients admitted in ICU.Materials and Methods: This study was performed on blood specimens of 1422 Patients admitted in the ICU Amiralmomenin Hospital in Gerash from January to June 2018. The blood samples were cultured in Tryptic Soy Broth (TSB) medium and incubated at 37Ċ for 24, 48, 72 hours, and 10 days. Bacterial species were identified using biochemical tests and differential cultivation medium. The antibiotic resistance pattern of bacteria was investigated by Kirby-Bauer method. Chi-square test was used for data analysis.68Result: Among 1422 blood samples, 194 samples (13.64%) were positive for bacterial growth. 118 blood samples (60.82%) were positive for Gram-positive bacteria and 76 samples (19.17%) were positive for Gram-negatives bacteria. The most common Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria was Staphylococcus epidermidis (85.59%) and Acinetobacter (34.21%), respectively. The most and the least antibiotic resistance in Gram-positive bacteria was to Sulfamethoxazole (69%) and Penicillin (70.2%), respectively. For Gram-negative bacteria, the most and the least antibiotic resistance was observed to Ampicillin (75.4%) and Imipenem (82.4%), respectively.Conclusion: According to the prevalence of nosocomial infections in ICU, it is important to identify bacterial agents that cause these infections and to their determine antibiotic resistance pattern in the care of hospitalized patients in this section.
