Abstract:
This study analyzes energy-friendly smart home loads, control of these loads, and their effects on the efficient use of energy. In the present study, in addition to existing fixed-loads at home, home energy management (HEM) system is responsible for adjusting shiftable appliances commitment, charging/ discharging periods of plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and energy storage system (ESS). Electricity prices in this study are under different pricing strategies. The real time programming (RTP), Time of Use (TOU), and flat tariff which are pricing strategies based on the day-ahead pricing schemes. Results are discussed in term of cost-effective energy scheduling of a home.
