Abstract:
This paper presents an efficient optimal capacitor placement using world cup optimization for distribution systems. The voltages at buses in this case, reduces when moved away from the substation, also the losses are high. One of the important works in this situation is to decrease the voltage and high losses which make insufficient amount of reactive power. This compensation can be provided by the shunt capacitors. Finding the optimal place and the value for these capacitors is an NP-hard problem. Nowadays, using the meta-heuristic algorithms to find the optimized value of the system has become popular. In this paper, we utilized a new optimization algorithm, world cup optimization algorithm, for achieving the optimized allocation of the shunt capacitors. The proposed technique is applied on the IEEE-10 bus system and the results are compared with other methods in the literature.
