Abstract:
In this research, ZnO/Cu2O compound photocatalysts were synthesized by sol-gel method with different reagents. Also, the effect of calcination at 500°C on the morphology of samples were studied. All of the samples were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS). The XRD patterns of ZnO/Cu2O nanocomposites demonstrate the Cu2O and ZnO peaks clearly. SEM results showed that the ZnO nanoparticles formed uniformly on the surface of Cu2O particles. Results indicated that ZnO/Cu2O sample with solvent type of ethanol and NaOH precipitation reagent and without the calcination has the optimal morphology. DRS results showed that the nanocomposites has a wide-range absorption between 400 and 750 nm which is within the visible light range.
