Global environmental protection and resource conservation in one side and logistics operations and manufacturing technology developments on the other has led researchers and practitioners to shift from thinking only on classical forward Supply Chain to pure Reverse Supply Chain or Closed Loop Supply Chain (CLSC). Creating new jobs and further generating income from trading the recyclable materials, the RSC may leads to considerable economic growth. An appropriate Reverse Supply Chain Network Design (RSCND) model will further help in proper utilization of the recycling materials to integrate in the SC reducing the costs and enhancing the outcomes. Therefore, in this paper the attempt has been made to study and review the modeling approaches have been used, or are available, in the recent RSC/CLSC network design models. It offers a literature review on RSCND/ CLSC taking 154 papers published from 2010 to 2018 into account. Addressing several papers that established based on the case studies, and outlining major lines of research in the field, make the literature review useful for both practitioners in companies and academics.
