The Internet of Things: A State of the Art of Applications

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a novel idea that is briskly gaining ground in the concept of modern wireless telecommunications. The basic idea of IOT is the connectivity of the things through Internet network where they are such devices as RFID tags, sensors, actuators, and mobile phones. Nowadays, IOT is applicable to many aspects in everyday life, whether it is at home, work, transport, or outdoors. Therefore, this study tries to review the various applications of the IOT in a systematic and categorized way. It offers a literature review on the concept of IOT taking 109 papers published from 2011 to 2018 into account. Addressing several papers that established based on the basic applications of the concept, and outlining major lines of research in the field, make the literature review useful for both practitioners in companies and academics.
