THE EFFECTS OF PRECIPITATION AND EVAPORATION ON THE CASPIAN SEA LEVEL

It is believed that the rise of sea level over the past century is due to climate warming resulting in the melting of ice masses and the expansion of sea water. There are predictions regarding the faster uplift of the general sea level over the next century. If this happens, there will be a significant impact on the coastline (Nicholls, R. J., & Cazenave, A., 2010; Warrick, R. A., & Oerlemans, J., 1990). Changes of the Caspian Sea may be the result of several factors such as climate change, changing river flows, regional precipitation, evaporation, wind stress, changes in seabed morphology, changes in the pattern of atmospheric transport and human activities such as construction of dams on main rivers.
