Abstract:

Background and Aim: Overweight and obesity are intrusive. Inactive people weight gain is associated with the spread of chronic diseases. On the other hand, ginger medicines, in the modern therapeutic system, have clinically effective effects in the treatment of many metabolic diseases.the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of 8 weeks Pilates training with ginger supplement on BMI of obese women.Methods: In this semi-experimental study, 40 obese women with a range of 30-40 years of age were selected by purposeful sampling and randomly divided into 4 groups of 10 people (Ginger Supplement, Pilates Exercise - Pilates Exercise + Ginger Supplements - Control). Anthropometric indices were evaluated before and after the training period in the experimental groups.The significance level for all statistical methods at probability level (P≤0.05) (two-way) was considered by SPSS software version 21.Results: Eight weeks of Pilates training has a significant effect on the BMI of obese women, and decreases in this index. Also, eight weeks Pilates training with ginger consumption has a significant effect on BMI of obese women and decreases in this index. (P 0.05)Conclusion: Based on the findings of this study, it can be concluded that the combination of Pilates exercises and ginger supplementation has a double effect on the reduction of BMI in obese women.By conducting further research, the combination of Pilates exercises and ginger supplements may be an effective treatment to reduce BMI in obese individuals.
