خلاصه مقاله:
Background and Aim: There is little evidence on the relationship between obesity onset age and the level of biochemical and body composition parameters. Thus, this study was carried out to clarify relationships with age-related metabolic status and body composition Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted between November 2013 and December 2014, with a total of 321 obese (BMI≥30) participants with an average age of 39.52 ±11.73 years old. Based on the obesity onset age, participants were divided into 4 groups: <1 year, 1-9 years old, 10-18 years, and > 18 years. Relevant findings, such as anthropometric, biochemical and body composition parameters was obtained in each age group. Additionally, genetic variation in PGC-1α gene (rs17574213, rs8192678 and rs3755863) were examined in association with obesity onset age. Results: Body mass index and trunk fat in groups whose obesity began at aged > 18 year was lower than the other three groups. However, the visceral fat and fasting blood sugar was highest in this group (> 18 year old). The level of hs-CRP was highest in participants whose obesity onset age was under 1 year. Serum levels of HDL, LDL and total cholesterol were at the lowest level in the group who began to be obese between the ages of 10 and 18 years, in comparison with the other groups. Two variations of the PGC-1α gene (rs17574213 and rs8192678) were associated with obesity onset age. Conclusion: Depending on the time of the onset of obesity, the levels of biochemical factors and body composition showed various differences.
