Abstract:

Our body and brain are prone to inflammation and pain in such a stressful lifestyle we live in these days. As a solution, we may have attempted to relieve the pain in several ways: eating, TV watching or smoking. We need a distraction; we’d like to change the way that brain is working by biochemical manipulation; we indeed ask for fun and sometimes it works. However most of stress-killer strategies (e.g., muffin, ice cream, smoking and social networking-surfing) are not without harm consequences; and in long-term approach those behaviors undertaken to enhance the happiness may in fact decline it. A huge amount of literature showed that there is one more plan to be happy that also have positive long run effects such as healthy lifestyle: physical activity and exercise. Physical activity as a good stress can resist the bad psychological stress, modulating by HPA axis activity, BDNF, and serotonin. Physical activity and happiness are correlated with enhanced function of immune system and nervous system (i.e., neuroplasticity). Both lead to increased production of antibodies, activated immune cells as well as releasing a few neurotrophic factors that are highlighted as candidate biomarkers of associations between PA and brain health by recent studies.Health sciences (medicine, nutrition etc.) tried to help people make longer lives but not happier lives. In consequence we encounter with a big challenge of an aged-population with many chronic lifestyle-related diseases. Only 10 to 40 % of people in adulthood meet the physical activity guidelines and almost everybody is engaged more than 8 hours a day with sedentary behaviors. Thus, there are big remained questions: How much activity we need to alter the brain and cognitive health; how we can save the human life, wellbeing and happiness. The recent findings propose that we need something more than a focus on PA alone. We need to alter the mindsets and the behaviors; establish a healthy mindset, an active mindset, a sustainable nutrition and a sustainable active lifestyle.
