Sunitinib malate is a multitargeted tyrosine kinase inhibitor that inhibits tumor cellproliferation and angiogenesis. It is approved for the treatment of renal cell carcinoma (RCC)and imatinib-resistant gastrointestinal stromal tumor [1-4]. In this study, the molar transitionenergy (ET) values for sunitinib malate were measured in aqueous binary mixtures of DMSO.Plot of ET as a function of mole fraction of the organic solvent was obtained and the data wereanalyzed to investigate preferential solvation of the drug in terms of both solute–solvent andsolvent–solvent interactions [5].
