A green and efficient one-pot process to achieve 5-aryl-pyrimido[4,5-b]quinoline-dione derivatives, using a three-component reaction involving anilines, aldehydes and barbituric acids was developed. This protocol was accomplished efficiently using nano-CoFe2O4@SiO2/PrNH2 as a heterogeneous catalyst. The significant advantages of this protocol are the use of magnetically recoverable catalyst, high to excellent product yields, operational simplicity and the use of CoFe2O4@SiO2/PrNH2 nanoparticles as an environment-friendly catalyst.
