خلاصه مقاله:
Prenatal care is very critical for healthy society. In most cases, congenital abnormalities are occurred without any clear risk factors, such as parental genetic similarity, family history of congenital abnormalities. However many congenital abnormalities do not have the right to abortion, therefore careful attention should be paid to pregnant women during pregnancy and before it. One of the congenital abnormalities that does not have the right to abortion is Turner syndrome. This syndrome is one of disorders that in most cases does not have a clear risk factor. One of the presumptive risk factors is father s height which was surveyed in previous studies, it demonstrated that fathers who were less than 150 cm in height, had girls with Turner s syndrome. In present cross-sectional study, pregnant women divided to 2 groups; 43 women with short husband’s height and 43 women with ordinary husband’s height. At the 14th week of pregnancy, all pregnant women with female fetus underwent amniocentesis by perinatologist and the samples were collected in a sterile container aseptically and sent to the cytogenetic laboratory. In low husband’s height group 31 women of 43 pregnant woman was carrying female fetus, 23 fetus had 45,XO karyotype. In ordinary husband’s height group, 33 women of 43 pregnant woman was carrying female fetus (p> 0.05). All of them had 46,XX karyotype (P<0.001). By share decision making, only 2 pregnant women delivered Turner daughters. It seems that short fathers pass their Turner daughters a deficient growth potential which may be one of the sources of deficient body height in that syndrome. Thus, only a short father may be considered a risk factor pointing to detailed search for Turner s syndrome. Couples with short male partners should be more assessment such as amniocentesis, despite of healthy screening test.Present study was patient funded.
