Abstract:

The non ionic surfactant Triton X-100 about 35Wt% is soluble in water [1]. In the low concentration the cloud point of system is about 66 C. With increase concentration of Triton X-100 to 0.2 Wt%, the cloud point of solution of Triton X-100 will decrease, for concentration more than 0.2, the cloud point will increase. In the presence of low concentration of ionic surfactants such as SDS (sodium dodecylsulphate), and CTAB (cetyltrimethylammoniun bromide) the cloud point will increase very fast [2]. Reason of increasing to justify that molecules of surfactants set inter of micelle of Triton and as result of increasing repulsive force inter micelle that is between molecule of surfactant and micelle of Triton. In this concentration formation of micelle happen in higher CMC and in other words, increasing the cloud point, with increasing of Triton concentration amount of ionic surfactant, needing for increasing of cloud point, will increase. Because by increasing Triton concentration, increase number of micelles and a lot of ionic surfactant molecules for increasing loud surface needed. The increasing of the cloud point of Triton X-100 in the presence of CTAB more than SDS.
