Abstract:
Device-to-device (D2D) communication is intended to be deployed in the fifth generation (5G) of cellular networks. InD2D communication, users communicate directly and share their contents without the need for macrocell base station(MBS). In the previous studies on cooperative D2D communication, relays were chosen among free users. However,since the users are most mobile, they have energy constraint. Therefore, femtocell base stations (FBSs) can be used asrelays in cooperative D2D communication along with the network coding. Network coding in cooperative networks canincrease data rate and coverage area of D2D communication. The purpose of this article is to present efficient relayselection and power allocation methods in multi-source network-coded cooperative D2D communication for improvingenergy consumption. We obtain the performance in term of spectral efficiency. The results show that the proposedmethod significantly enhances the performance of multicast D2D communication.
