ZnS nanoparticles have shown the capability of detecting UV photons and convert them to electricalcurrent. Poly[2-methoxy-5-(2-ethylhexyloxy)-1,4-phenylenevinylene] MEH-PPV helps to collect and transfer thecarriers to the contacts. The ZnS nanoparticles have been synthesized during an all-chemical process. Thephotodetector was fabricated by the drop casting hybrid nanocomposite on interdigitated electrodes. Sensor responseand electrical conductivity are studied as a function of ZnS concentration. Various concentration of ZnS (7.5, 14, 45,62 wt%) are tested and the optimum condition for response and electrical conductivity is obtained. Also, by testingdifferent voltages, the most suitable voltage for ultraviolet sensor obtained. For this sensor, best concentration ofZnS was 14 wt% mixed with MEH-PPV and the best performance was obtained at 12V bias. TEM microscopyimages confirms the production of 30-nm ZnS nanoparticle.
