Abstract:
Wireless Body Area Network is a network that constantly monitors patients health conditions in order to preventand identify dangers by sharing information with physicians at anytime and anywhere. In WBANs, energy has alwaysbeen a challenge due to the limited power of the sensor batteries. Another challenge which needs to be considered isQoS-aware routing of data from the source to the destination. In this paper, a thermal-aware next hop selectionalgorithm has been proposed in WBANs, which satisfies QoS requirements. In the proposed protocol, next hop selectionis based on the temperature and QoS parameters of the neighboring nodes. Simulation results show that the proposedprotocol has a better performance than similar protocol in terms of energy consumption, delay, temperature rise, andpacket delivery ratio.
