Abstract:

Micro-grids are defined as low voltage systems which consist of different types of distributed energy resources (DERs),energy storage systems (ESS) and electrical loads and can work in both connected and islanding mode. Nowadays.Control and optimal scheduling of these interconnected systems are one of the most important issues for the micro-gridoperators. For optimal operation of a micro-grid, energy storage systems play an important role in management ofenergy in micro-grids and should be considered to increase the performance of the micro-grid. This paper aims tooptimize the operation of an interconnected micro-grid which have consists of various DERs, and electrical ESS in sucha way that the total operation cost and the net emission are minimized, simultaneously. In this regard, a comprehensivemathematical model for electrical ESS with economic and environmental objective functions are obtained. To solve themulti-objective problem, we propose an efficient modified Bacterial Foraging Optimization (MBFO) algorithm. Aninteractive fuzzy satisfying method is also used to simulate the trade-off between conflicting objectives (cost andemission). Finally, the proposed energy management system is applied to a typical micro-grid. The results show that theproposed energy management system can smartly cover the total electrical load demands with respect to economic andenvironmental criteria.
