Mentha, Dracocephalum and Propolis effects on the health of Pancreas and Liver cells

Mentha and Dracocephalum members of plants inthe Lamiales (1). Oils of Mentha Genus are mostpopular and widely used essential oils,because theyhave very important components of naturalantioxidants .As well as Mentha extract haveantioxidant and antimutagenic properties andactivities ,because it contains α-tocopherol andRosmarinic acid (2,3). Moreover, Dracocephalumhave serious materials such as Luteolin ,Oleic acid ,Ursolic acid and Flavonoids (4,5). Luteolin ,Oleic acidand Ursolic acid are members of chemicals familycalled Terpenoids . On the other hand, Propolis is afoodstuff and attention to it is very important andnecessary because it has Caffeic Acid PhenethylEster(CAPE).It should be noted Propolis is a gummyadmixture that honey bees produce via beeswax andmixing saliva with exudate prepared from flowers,tree buds and flower buds (6). Our goal isdetermination of Mentha, Dracocephalum andPropolis effects on the promotion and improvementof pancreatic and hepatic cells health.In researches results have been suggested thatFlavonoids have good efficiency of biological andpharmacological activities such as ,antiinflammatory,anti-cancer and reducer of pancreaticcancer risk as well as results from in vitro and in vivostudies have suggested that Terpenoids arecandidates in the chemo-therapeutic way andchemo-preventive for liver cancer. (5,7,8). Scholarsalso explained that Rosmarinic acid is as a candidatefor the liver fibrosis treatment and it has therapeuticrole in acute pancreatitis (9,10).Also, α-tocopherolhas salubrious efficacy in repairing and improvinghepatic pathology(11). Furthermore, CAPE is able todecrease oxidative stress and hepatic and pancreaticinjuries. It has notable ability for controlling andreduction for pancreatic cells injuries. CAPE caninhibit the development pancreatic cancer cells viaTwist 2 expression downregulation (A tumorprogression promoter) (12,13,14). Interestingly,according to the Holy Quran if bees via normal andnatural way produce honey, this honey is atherapeutic foodstuff and also its other products areremedial materials (15).Due to this study we conclude that Mentha,Dracocephalum and Propolis are remedialfoodstuffs. They have different efficiency andeffective role in promotion and improvement ofpancreatic and hepatic cells function and health somore attention to these important materials invarious pharmaceutical fields is necessary. Cancerand disorders of Pancreas and liver are common inthe worldwide. Unfortunately, Pancreatic cancer andhepatic cancer are seventh and second mostcommon cause of cancer deaths, respectively (16).Hence, it was recommended to usage of thesefoodstuffs for sublimity social health, for examplealcoholism is the one of main risk factor of thesecancers and disorders so people can combat to theseproblems via alcohol consumption deletion anduseage of health promoter foodstuffs such asMentha, Dracocephalum and Propolis.Finally, further studies need to be conducted in thisarea for detection of more usefulness of Mentha,Dracocephalum and Propolis.
