Abstract:

Injection Molding is a common method for production of plastic parts such as food packaging, industrial parts, and office accessories.Engineering software programs for injection molding are of great help to designers and mold makers for simulating the process. Moldflow can be named as a useful software for simulation of injection molding. Using this power software, various stages of the process can be analyzed.Considering the efficiency of Moldflow for injection molding, it was tried to simulate injection molding of anplastic box without trial and error and optimize important procedure parameters such as filling time, injection pressure and ejection time of the part. Also, the proper cooling system for uniform cooling of the part was specified based on the input water temperature, number of channels, channel width, channel distance from the part. The maximum pressure for filling the mold is required at the point of injection which was calculated by the software to be 52.16 MPa, implying that a lower pressure would not fill the mold properly.The lowest temperature (223.2 °C) was found to be at the edges of the part and maximum temperature (234.67 °C) to be at the point of injection which falls in an acceptable range. Reduction of temperature in the polymer during the filling procedure is negligible except for the edges.
