Abstract:

Today, pure hydrogen production is considered as a source of renewable energy. This paper explores the use of solar energy of hydrogen production methods, methane reforming methods by volumetric receptor reactors, reforming methane vapor by molten salt and electrolysis of water with solar thermal energy. It benefits from solar energy as a rich source of renewable, sustainable, abundant and environmentally friendly energy. Each of the above methods was evaluated technically, economically and environmentally. The results showed that the thermochemical processes of steam reforming of natural gas solar methane with the help of volumetric receptor reactors and with the help of molten salt as the heat carrier have the highest potential for hydrogen production. The use of natural gas methane reforming method with molten salt as a heat carrier is more energy efficient than the other two methods. On the other hand, the production of electrolytic hydrogen by using water as a raw material and electricity produced from solar energy in the method of electrolysis of water has the least environmental impact compared to the other two methods, and now it has a cost-effective economy.
