Abstract:

Cobalt (II) was applied as an green and biodegradable catalyst for the one-pot three-component synthesis of 4H‐pyran annulated systems from the condensation between aryl aldehydes, malononitrile and 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds in H2O:EtOH at ambient and thermal conditions. This methodology has a number of advantages such as use of very small amount of catalyst, inexpensive and easy access catalyst, short reaction time, high yields, easy workup and non-toxic and hazardous catalyst and solvents
