Abstract:

In this paper, we have investigated the degradation of Alizarin red s by Fenton reaction .Central composite design was applied for optimization of the factors that have effect on the degradation process and study their interactions. The main experimental parameters in this reaction were reaction time, concentrations of H2O2 and Fe2+. After removing the non-significant variables from the model, response surface method was applied to obtain the optimum operational conditions. As a result, 18 experiments were performed and response surface method was used to obtain the optimum conditions. The optimum range of variables were: 150–200 (μl) for the initial concentration of Fe2+, 50–100 (μl) for the initial concentration of H2O2 and 7-10 min for reaction time.
