Abstract:

With growing concern about the environment, the oil industry has become interested in new technologies that reduce costs by increasing the efficiency of decreasing aromatic compounds from fossil fuels and exchange them by compounds with high RON. Isomerization reaction is an interesting process for the promoting RON in the petroleum industry because of its coincidence with the environmental legislations. In this work, a bifunctional composite catalyst impregnated with 0.6% platinum that possesses good activity as well as enhanced selective isomerization capability was developed. The good conversion of n-heptane and the catalytic selectivity to isomerized products were shown to us when Y zeolite was used as a part of composite catalyst. The prepared catalyst has been thoroughly characterized by XRD, FT-IR, N2 adsorption-desorption and NH3-TPD techniques
