Abstract:

Fe3O4/rGO nanocomposite was employed for advanced oxidation treatment (electro-Fenton process) of acid blue 92 (AB92) in an undivided electrochemical cell equipped with two stainless steel electrodes at constant current. The nanocomposite was characterized by XRD, VSM and BET techniques. According to XRD’s results, Fe3O4 nanoparticles retained their cubic spinel structures after formation by coprecipitation method on the graphene oxide (GO) and dispersed homogeneously on the surface of GO. The VSM measurement revealed the upermagnetic behaviour of Fe3O4/rGO nanocomposite. The surface area of Fe3O4 nanoparticles was enhanced by preparation of nanocomposites of them and graphene oxide. The removal efficiency of AB92 reached 94.75% after 60 min of electrolysis at an initial pH of 3, the current intensity of 100 mA, 0.002 g weight of added Fe3O4/rGO nanocomposite, 100 mg L-1 initial dye concentration, and room temperature. The kinetic decay of the dye obeyed a pseudo-first-order reaction and the rate constant was obtained 0.0501 min-1.
