Abstract:

Adsorption is used for treatment of metal-contaminated from polluted water as an effective and low cost method in separation. In this study zeolite 3A is modified with magnesium to have higher adsorption capacity and efficient ion exchange with Ni ions. The zeolite that is modified with magnesium, adsorb more than 95% of the 200 ppm Nickel in aqueous solutions at T=25c and PH=7 as optimal PH, 1.2 grams modified zeolite in 100 ml and 1.7 mg/zeolite ratio. The adsorption experiments are done in 4 hours so the adsorption process is relatively fast and efficient. The process parameters under investigation are adsorbent dosage, PH and temperature. In addition, positive ΔH demonstrates endothermic adsorption process between modified zeolite and Ni in aqueous solutions.
