Abstract:

Today, atherosclerosis (coronary artery disease) is the major cause of death. Therefore, various treatment methods such as stenting and drug delivery have been proposed for healing this disease. In our previous investigation, we evaluated the capability of magnetic drug delivery for atherosclerosis therapy. In this investigation, effects of parameters included particle magnet positon, magnetic field strength, and atherosclerosis size on nano particle retention are investigated. Results prove that magnet should be placed exactly above formed plaque inside the artery to have an efficient effect on trapping. In addition, increase in atherosclerosis result in reducing trapping efficiency, so higher magnetic field should be exerted for particle retention enhancement.
