Abstract:

Explosive welding (EXW) is one of the most important methods of solid welding. In this process, some parameters such as detonationvelocity and energy, gap size between flyer and parent plate and material properties are really important. In this study, theeffect of detonation energy and gap size for explosive welding of pipe was investigated. We used the finite element method (FEM)to confirm experimental results. The results showed that the gap size between both layers should be less than flayer plate thicknessin order to obtain a good welding condition. The detonation energy should not be higher than a special range which produces damageto materials
