In the blast furnace the performance of the feed charge and predicting its optimal conditions may increase by applying mass balance calculations. However, despite the fact that many researchers have studied the blast furnace processes over the past years, many problems remain with the mechanism of the changes in the furnace. Complexity and variety of simultaneous chemical and physical processes in the furnace, can be controlled and predicted in cost-effective way. In this study mass balance analysis has been carried out for ESCO’s (Esfahan Steel Company) blast furnace number 3. The aim of this work is to provide mathematical calculation model of the equations for the various components of the blast furnace. In this regard, each input and output material has been analyzed, and the respective elemental compositions have been calculated. All major components and chemical reactions inside the blast furnace were considered in this study. Each calculation has been done with sufficient details provided by the ESCO. The mass balance is performed by HSC software based on the input and output data of the blast furnace number at ESCO. This information includes the input charge composition such as iron ore (61 Fe, 6.5% SiO2, 2.5% CaO, 0.3 P), sinter material (54% Fe, 14%FeO, 1.1% MnO, 6.4% SiO2,10.5% CaO, 0.1% P, 2.2 MgO, 0.5 TiO2 ), pellet 66% Fe, 3% SiO2, 3% CaO, 0.05% and S), coke(3.2% W,13% Ash, 1% and S), flux (CaO and CaF2) and inlet gas (N2 and O2). The output data including hot metal, slag and outlet gas is then fed to the software to balance the inputs and outputs using the mass balance equations. It seems that by simulating the software of mass of these processes in furnace, it can significantly increase the production efficiency and reduce production costs, which can be attributed to the price of the product and therefore the competitiveness product in the market is effective.
