Priority sectors are referred to industries that have the best performance based on economic and financial indicators. Prioritization demands separate study of thesesections based on economic and financial criteria and standards, in order to reach rationale for lending in each section. This study uses performance indicators, such asvalue added, output value, etc.as well as financial indicators to assess the priority of given industry for 1997, 2003and 2009. The industries have been analyzed usingfactor analysis and numerical taxonomy based on ISIC classification. The results, which are borne out by the monitored indicators, show that industries that manufacture basic metals, car accessories, and chemical substances as well as basic iron and steel products have had the best performances and rank high in loaning priority lists of banks.
