Abstract:
In order to improve electrical conductivity and oxidation resistance of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) interconnects, these interconnects can be coated with a protective layer. In this research pack cementation method was employed to coat the AISI 430 ferritic stainless steel a manganese-base pack mixture. During oxidation tests the coating layer converted to the Mn3O4 spinel and MnFe2O4 nano spinel. Isothermal oxidation was applied at 800 ºC for 200 h to evaluate the area specific resistance (ASR) values. Electrical resistance activation energy was evaluated by use ofprevious consequences. Results showed that the activation energy decreases when the temperature decreases and coated samples electrical resistance activation energy was lower than uncoated ones.
