Abstract:

The quality of surface waters is affected by both nature (precipitation rate, weather changes, soil erosion, etc.) and human activities (urban and industrial activities, the exploitation of water resources). During recent years, most of water resources levels have been reached to the critical point due to the unplanned consumption and waste of water. As one of the most important sources for providing and transiting the consumptive water, the rivers are in particular importance. Increasingly development in agricultural and industrial activities have caused the rivers pollution, water quality reduction and the biological death of rivers in some regions. Rivers water quality and its modeling is the main challenge in this paper.to achieve this goal this study is done in three steps: in the first step the stations are embedded along river main channel, in the second step the quality parameters determined and water sampled to gathering information about water quality. Finally, in the third step a model developed to analysis river conditions during a year. Taleghan River water is used for different purposes especially for drinking water supply of Tehran metropolitan and Karaj city. In this paper Taleghan river is considered as a case study and according to this river situations, Qual2k software is used to model its quality. This study undertook during the 2009year by monthly sampling of physio-chemical factors in each station of the River.
