Abstract:

Today, the environment, saving the fossil energy and sustainable development are global issues of common concern. So, conservating the energy sources and symbiosis with natural and climatic conditions has become one of the most important measures in architecture and urbanization. Sustainable development is one of the most important contemporary perspectives with a logical response to the problems of the industry era. Although, it is more than a decade that sustained architecture has come up and many solutions have been proposed to solve the contemporary crisis, there are still some obstacles in the way of creating a sustainable architecture. It seems that by removing obstacles through values and characteristics of local architecture, such problems will be solved. According to the works of local architecture, these buildings consistently met the objectives of sustainability in their time and place. Local architecture has unique features to address environmental issues and also response to the climate requirements. Due to the extent of the cold and mountainous climate in Iran, paying attention to the design of the buildings and the structures of cities in this type of climate, which are considered as major consumers of fossil fuels, can reduce fuels consumption and thereby decrease the environmental pollution caused by fuels consumption. By study the literature resources of the library and conducting objective observations, the study tries to understand the principles governing the local architecture as an example of a sustainable architecture. The study aims to extracted its repeatable components in order to obtaining the sustainable environmental development.
