Abstract:

The effect of ultrasound radiation on the size and distribution of synthesized copper particles were investigated under various concentrations of ethylene glycol as a capping agent. Results of using a sonifier at the reduction stage revealed that finer mono-dispersed copper particles can be achieved at the higher injection rate of reducing agent. Increasing the concentration of EG as a capping agent is expected to decrease the size of copper particles, but by employing a sonifier, increasing the concentration of EG increased the size of copper particles. While the morphology of particles vary by concentration of capping agent, by employing higher injection rate of reducing agent or using a sonifier at the instance of reduction, smaller spherical morphology can be obtained at various concentrations of capping agent.
