Abstract:

This taxon is distinguished from the other species by having larger body size; different coloration, larger keeled, dorsal median scales arranged in 17-22 oblique longitudinal rows, 79-119 scales around middle of body, 84-109 scales in a single row from posterior edge of gular fold to vent, 18-22 scales in the first complete whorl around the tail. We used mitochondrial gene, ND4 (NADH dehydrogenase subunit 4) for genetic characters. Consequently, we recognised this new species based on morphological and genetic characteristics. A new species of Laudakia has been described from west of Iran
