خلاصه مقاله:
Skin wounds and reducing their healing time are considered one of the most important aspects of medicine. Medicinal plants are one of the most commonly used treatments in traditional herbal medicine. Hyssopus officinalis belongs to Lamiaceae and have compounds including flavonoids and tannin. Therefore it can be useful in treating skin wounds and infections. In the present study, the effect of the alcoholic extract of Hyssopus officinalis based on olive oil and beeswax on experimental wound healing was investigated in male rats. For this purpose, 30 male rats were divided into 5 groups (n = 6): control (without receiving any treatment), sham (received cream base: olive oil + beeswax) and treatment groups (40%, 60% and 80% herbal extract) which received Hyssopus officinalis cream topically. Skin wounds created with 10 x 10 mm dimensions on the back of the rats. On days 1, 4, 8 and 12 after wound creating, their dimensions measured by the caliper, macroscopic tissue properties of healing (scar formation) and healing percentage (using formula) were analyzed. Wound dimensions in the control and treatment groups showed a significant difference (P<0.001). Among the treatment groups, the extract with a dose of 60% had the highest efficacy. According to the findings of this study, it seems that the extract of Hyssopus officinalis has an acceptable healing effect on the skin wound.
