Abstract:
A new complex of copper, [Cu(L)2], with 2-(1-(2-hydroxyethyl)-4,5-dihydro-1Himidazol-2-yl)phenol ligand (HL) was prepared and identified by elemental analysis,FT-IR spectroscopy and single-crystal X-Ray diffraction. In this structure, the copper atom has CuN2O2 environment and square planar geometry. The ligand has a one chiral carbon atom. X-ray analysis of the complex revealed that the ligand is deprotonated during the complexation process and acts as anionic ligand. The complex has one center of inversion on the copper atom and Ci symmetry. In the crystal network of the complex there are intermolecular C–H···O and C–H···C hydrogen bonds, extending the crystal network in three directions
