Abstract:

Hospital preparedness is one of keyfactor for minimize the impact of disaster. Although many people think that hospital is expected to be super helper in disaster situation, one should not forget that hospital itself can be influenced by disaster. It may require helps from others. Community surrounding hospital in this situation is a potential human resources that can be trained so they can help hospital during emergency and disaster.Hospital Preparedness and Community Readiness for Emergency & Disaster (HPCRED) is a program run by MDMC (Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Centre) Indonesia and aimed at strengthening capacity of Muhammadiyah hospitals and communities surrounding hospital in emergency situations and disasters. Program was run in 2015 for a year and this is one of significant programs of the MDMC to improvedisaster awareness, and to improve preparedness and readiness of individuals and units within Muhammadiyah organizations.In hospital level, Members of the cluster of health in each area get the chance to increase their capacity to engage in the training of Emergency Medical Operations Coordinator (KOMD) and in the functional exercise in hospitals and also in the deployment of theDisaster Health Committee exercise outside the Hospital. With these activities, members of the cluster of health at the local level, such as the Department of Health, BPBDs, health teams of some hospitals, teams from Faculty of Medicines, the Indonesian Red Cross also have a forum to coordinate as well as to test SOP from each institution in the simulation.In community level, HPCRED program led to the establishment of Disaster Risk Reduction Forum and Community Volunteers Forum at the village/neigborhood level. Disaster Reduction Forum and Community Volunteer Forum that created in this program were formed through the Resilient Village/Community program where its activities are integrated into the Disasters Emergency Hospital plan
