Introduction: In the Personalized Medicine Approach (PM), the primary goal is to cover the need for generic therapeutic protocols to adapt to the specific characteristics of each person. PM enables us to anticipate and prevent the ones who are at risk of gastrointestinal cancer. In this regard, it is necessary to provide genome maps of individuals as prognostic factors for gastrointestinal cancers. One of the important tools in this regard is the biobank. Biobank is a center for collecting and storing omics information of each person. Method: Considering the high mortality rate of gastrointestinal cancers in Golestan Province and the existence of appropriate infrastructures such as Golestan Cancer Biobank (GOCB), Golestan cohort study (GCS) and Electronic Health Record (EHR), the initial steps can be taken to implement PM. In this way, the required omics information is supported by the GOCB and demographic information by the EHR. Therefore, organizing and expanding the biobank and extending information input of individuals in the EHR, are essential for moving ahead in this way. The next step in this process is making connection between the data inputs to create unique profiles for the covered population. Conclusion: Providing comprehensive archives of information such as genetic mapping and lifestyles, will increase the capacity of health and medical system to identify and prevent people at risk of gastrointestinal cancers.
