Abstract:

Introduction : Nutritional awareness and other factors affecting blood pressure and self-care .perception during hypertension are important factors for controlling blood pressure . This study aimed to investigate the factors influencing self-care in hypertensive patients.Material and Methods: In a descriptive-analytical cross-sectional study, 315 patients with high blood pressure in the city of Qom in 1995 were selected through convenience sampling from patients referring to health center.. The data collection tool was a two-part questionnaire including demographic information and self-care. Data were analyzed using SPSS19 and independent T-tests and Pearson and Anova correlations were considered with regard to the significance level of 0.05.Result : The mean age of the patients was 53.59 years and the duration of the disease was 54.4 years. Only 5.1 percent of the total weekly body weight of the week was self-abandoned, and 27.9 percent did not participate in any of the sports activities during the week and 1.4 percent in the timely manner of self-medication. Did not eat.27.9% of their self care status was weak and 68.6% and 3.5% respectively. The mean score of self-care had no significant difference with sex and marital status and family history, but there was a significant difference in education and occupation and consumption of hypotensive drugs (P <0.05).There was a significant and inverse correlation between age and duration of self-care.Conclusion : Patients under study had not had a good self-care status. Also, the amount of salt and exercise was not good.
