Abstract:

friction stir processing FSP was spplied to modify the microsture and the mechanical behvoir of pure copper due to production of Cu/ Sic composite layers by friction stir processing. Optical microscopy OM resutls show that the grain size of the stir zone SZ ing the specimens friction stir processed micropscopy SEM that increase in rot ational speed improves separation and distribution of SiC particels in the specimens FSPed with SiC particles which to finer grain size in SZ. it can be seen that that microhardness of specimens FSPed without SiC particles enhanes with reduction of rotational speed. whereas reduction of rotational speed in specimens FSPed with SiC particels reduces the microhardness values in SZ due to poor dispersion of SiC particels.
