Abstract:

Biofuel have been considered as a suitable alternative to fossil fuel and microalgae is the new potential microorganism for biofuel production. In this paper, a novel photobioreactor for microalgae Chlorella sp growth was investigated. Besides, the effect of circulation of packing and fluid regim were also investigated. Maximum dry weight of 752.64 ?? ?−1 was obtained in modified photo bioreactor that was 1.5 times higher than reactor without packing. It was found that the packings and turbulant conditions enhanced the growth of microalgae because they increased mass transfer in photo bioreactor and also caused to reaching microalgae to surface of reactor and absorbing light effectively.
