Abstract:

Simulation of reservoir is an important step in the management of mature oil fields and development of new fields. Moreover, the fluid transport in petroleum reservoir occurs on wide ranges from micro to macro scales and multiple physics. Simulating flow with respect to all these scales and interaction between solid phases are computationally costly or impossible in some cases. Recently, Multiscale Multiphysic Mixed Geomechanical Model (M3GM) with respect to soil deformation has been developed to overcome this deficiency. However, applications to practical problems require extensions that enable the model to deal with surrounding strata and actual geomechanical boundaryconditions. In this paper, the combination of Multiscale Finite Volume (MSFV) and finite element frame works for simulation offluid transport and soil deformation are illustrated. The interaction of multiphase flow and soil deformation with iterative sequential strategy is also described. Next, the effect of surrounding rock is implemented in to the M3GM with virtual springs, and the Multiscale Multiphysic Mixed Geomechanical Model with Surrounding Rock M3GMSR is presented. Finally, indicative test case is analyzed and high computational efficiency are achieved
