Abstract:

Biodiesel is an alternative fuel for diesel engines that is receiving great attention worldwide. It is not contents of sulfur and has been composed of hydrogen, carbon and oxygen atoms. In this research biodiesel was produced from sunflower oil by method of transesterification reaction and according to ASTM 2009 standard test methods some physical and combustion properties of produced fuel was measured and compared with diesel fuel#2. Conclusions show, if the oil temperature increase to 80oc , the degree of purity of biodiesel will increase to higher than 98% and after water washing of reaction product it is not need to remove the monoglyccrides and free glycerin. Also, the effect of different ethanol to oil mass ratios on reaction progression and quality of biodiesel were investigated. Analyze of conclusions show, the more ethanol to oil ratio, the more reaction progression and improves the separation s phase qualities. The ethanol to oil mass ratio was investigated at five levels as; 9:50, 16:50, 18:50, 20:50 and 22:50. Attention to percentage of esters, the general formula of C20H39O2 was proposed to biodiesel
