Abstract:

In this paper, we investigate the destructive factors of cobalt-molybdenum catalyst andways to prevent the formation of carbon on the surface ofhydrogenation reactor in gas sweetening plant ofBushehr petrochemical complex. Cobalt-molybdenum catalyst is used totransform sulfur compounds into hydrogen sulfide gas. Inthe hydrogenation reactor, the hydrogen injected into the reactor adjacent to thecobalt-molybdenum catalyst with sulfur compounds and convert these compoundsinto hydrogen sulfide gas. The H2S produced in this reactor is returned to thebeginning of the sulfur recovery unit after the cooling operation. The hydrogenpartial pressure in the reactor has an essential role in effective yield and life of thecobalt-molybdenum catalyst. In the absence of hydrogen or decrease its partialpressure, other unwanted reactions occur that cause the formation of a carbon on thesurface of the activated catalyst and deactivate the cobalt-molybdenum catalyst.
