Abstract:

A low noise amplifier circuit using noise canceling technique and a differential active inductor (DAI) circuit is presented. In the proposed LNA circuit, a noise canceling method is used to improve the noise performance and a differential active inductor circuit is employed as inductive loads of the LNA circuit. By using the proposed noisecanceling circuit and design methodology the noise figure of the LNA is greatly suppressed and by exploiting the DAI circuit as an inductive load of the LNA, the efficient chip area without adding extra noise to the LNA circuit is reduced dramatically. The proposed LNA circuit is simulated with cadence spectra using 0.18μm CMOS technology. For the selected frequency of 2.4 GHz, results show S21(power gain) of 13.75, S11 of -9.83 and NF of 1.5 dB respectively. Power dissipation is 6.4 mW from a 1.8 V DC power supply.
