Abstract:
This study presents Fuzzy Inference System (FIS) method for predicting the amount of components in binary synthetic mixtures and commercial sample. Spectrophotometric method was coupled with FIS model as an artificial intelligence method for the simultaneous determination of Chlorpheniramine Maleate (CPM) and Phenylephrine Hydrochloride (PHE) in antihistamine decongestant tablet. Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE), Regression coefficient (R2), correlation coefficient (r) and Coefficient of Variation (Cov) were investigated. It was found that the FIS approach can be employed successfully and provide high accuracy and reliability in the determination of CPM and PHE simultaneously. The proposed model was compared to the high- performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) as a reference method. Furthermore, the obtained results of the one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) test at the 95 % confidence level showed that there was no significant difference between the proposed and reference method.
