Abstract:

Background there is a new definition for Fertility Quality of Life (FertiQOL), that evaluates, in particular, the impact of infertility on various aspects of life. In addition, women take the major blame for infertility and they suffer from personal grief and social stigma. Resilience, defined as one s ability to use internal and external sources successfully in the aim of adoption to the developmental tasks. The aim was to identify any gender differences in the social implications of infertility in the community, in the quality of life and resilience concepts in the infertile couples and how much resilience can affect the quality of life of the infertile couple Methods From March 2017 to June 2017, we asked from couples who referred to our infertility center in Yazd, Iran, to participate in our cross-sectional study. Participants were selected throughconvenience sampling. Patients signed consent forms. By the end June, 202 couples completed a questionnaire while waiting for their medical treatments The questionnaire had three parts:i) Demographic characteristics ii) Quality of life of infertile couples (FertiQOL) iii) The Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) After data collection, the analysis was done via SPSS 16 Socio-demographic and clinical variables were described through descriptive statistics. In the order to show congruence or incongruence, thus, significant β-coefficients indicated a significant relationship between the independent variables (resilience) and QOL scores for that domain. The p-value< 0.05 wasconsidered statistically significant Results Overall mean score for QOL is higher in men compared to women (> 0.001), this score for men interpreted as positive (69.48% of total score) and neutral in women (58.87%). ; The mean total score of resilience was 63.65 ± 15.51. Correlation between the QOL and resilience score was run. Significant positive correlation was found (p = 0.008 and r = 0.13) (P <0.1). Finally, they entered in the final regression model of multiple variables. Resilience (β = 0.04 and p = 0.04) had significant prognostic coefficients for quality of life
