Background: Gender differences have created a special concern for women s health. Present study aimed to evaluate frequency of mechanisms and intent of fatal injuries in deceased women in Hamedan County.Methods: The present study was examined all mechanism and the intent by age groups of fatal injuries. Samples were including all injury related mortality registered in Legal Medicine Organization of Hamedan County during one period from June 22, 2015 to June 21, 2016. The appropriate statistic tests were used to analyze Results: The total number of fatal injuries among women during one year in Hamadan County was estimated 125 cases. The most common deaths were mortality due to motor vehicle crashes and poisoning (drug and poison), which were 64 and 12 respectively, with 51.2% and 9.6% ranked as the first and the second. Deaths caused by burn and fall mechanisms with an equal percentage of 5.6% included a total of 14 cases. Six deaths (4.6%) were caused by hanging. Other injuries related mortality included three cases of drowning, three cases of hot and cold weapons, two cases of suffocation, 5 people dead due to drug abuse, Two mortality were resulted in hard-hit and the rest were due to the other mechanism such as electrocution etc. The injuries-related age death, the most were occurred in the age group of 76 years or more and between 31-35 age group. In terms of intent, 76.8% of deaths were unintentional. The highest number of deaths was attributed to the age group of 76 years or more and the lowest number was observed in the 71 to 75 age group. Eighty cases (13.6%) of all fatal injuries were due to one type of suicide. The highest number of suicides was occurred in the age group of 16 to 20 years and then 36 to 40 years.Conclusion: The injury related mortality especially due to motor vehicle crashes and poisoning in Iranian women is substantial. It is needed to considering preventive programs and adequate interventions in order to decrease of these preventable deaths especially in women.
