Inter-LTE and Intra-LTE: Impact Measurement of Mobility on Video Streaming

The recent improvements in efficient data delivery provided by the LTE network, lead to supporting video streaming services for the end users on their mobile phones. However, due to mobility of the end users, different speeds of internet connections, and also particular requirements of video files, ensuring the network reliability for providing seamless and uninterrupted video streaming for the end users while they are moving, always has been a challenge. Without a reliable video delivery design, the waiting time of the end users for playing back the content increases which is not desirable. This work, provides two different network models, inter-LTE and Intra-LTE, in OMNeT++ simulator tool to measure and compare the impact of mobility on network reliability during video streaming. The results prove that providing video streaming services in the intra-LTE model can significantly improve the quality of the video streaming experienced by the mobile end users.
